Editorial Policy

CPAPSupply.ca publishes information about sleep apnea, CPAP therapy, and respiratory health to help Canadians make informed decisions about their care. Because we sell medical devices and because the topics we cover affect real health outcomes, we hold ourselves to a defined standard for how content is researched, written, reviewed, and kept current. This page explains that process so you can judge our content on its merits.

Who is CPAPSupply.ca

CPAPSupply.ca is a Canadian CPAP supply store, operating since 2013. As one of Canada’s established CPAP suppliers, we serve patients across the country with CPAP machines, masks, accessories, and the full range of ongoing CPAP supplies that therapy requires. We are not a healthcare provider, a clinic, or a medical publication. We are a CPAP store staffed by people who work with this equipment every day and publish resource content intended to support Canadian patients through the information-gathering phase of their therapy.

This distinction matters. Our content is educational, not clinical. Nothing on this site is a substitute for personalized medical advice from your own physician, respiratory therapist, or sleep specialist.

Our authors and reviewers

Every health-related article on CPAPSupply.ca is either written by or medically reviewed by a qualified contributor. You’ll see the responsible person credited at the bottom of each article, along with their credentials and the date of the most recent medical review.

Jeremy Mank, Owner, CPAPSupply.ca

Jeremy founded the CPAP supply store in 2013 and has spent more than a decade working directly with Canadian patients to match CPAP equipment to their specific therapy needs. Jeremy contributes content based on his experience with the products we sell and the common questions patients bring to our store.

Crystal Mank, BKin, RRT, Registered Respiratory Therapist

Crystal holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology from Wilfrid Laurier University and a three-year Registered Respiratory Therapy diploma from Fanshawe College. She built a diverse hospital career before spending thirteen years at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, specializing in ICU, NICU, ward, emergency, and research settings, providing critical respiratory care to some of the most vulnerable patients in the country. In 2020, she transitioned into home CPAP care, where she now helps patients initiate therapy and guides them through the adjustments that make CPAP comfortable and effective long-term. Crystal medically reviews the clinical content on CPAPSupply.ca for accuracy.

Jeremy founded CPAPSupply.ca in 2013 and runs the business, while his wife Crystal brings her clinical expertise as a Registered Respiratory Therapist to support patients and review the health content published on the site. Together, they share a passion for helping Canadians sleep and breathe better. That passion is why customers at CPAPSupply.ca get real, personal attention, not a phone tree or an order form, with guidance from people who actually understand both the products and the therapy behind them. It’s the kind of service you can only get from a family-run Canadian CPAP supplier where every customer matters.

Our sources

When we make factual claims about sleep apnea, CPAP therapy, or respiratory health, we cite sources. We prioritize:

  • Health Canada publications and regulatory guidance
  • The Canadian Thoracic Society position statements and clinical practice guidelines
  • The Canadian Sleep Society educational materials and recommendations
  • Peer-reviewed medical journals, including the Canadian Respiratory Journal, Sleep Medicine Reviews, and Chest
  • Manufacturer clinical documentation for device-specific specifications (pressure ranges, humidification settings, maintenance intervals)
  • Provincial health program guidance for topics related to insurance coverage and device reimbursement (Ontario Assistive Devices Program, British Columbia PharmaCare, and equivalents)

We link to sources directly wherever possible. If a claim in our content doesn’t have a visible source, it should, and if you spot one that doesn’t, please let us know.

What we don’t publish

  • Information about treatments, devices, or interventions that aren’t approved for use in Canada
  • Unsubstantiated health claims, even when they favour products we sell
  • Content that contradicts established clinical guidance from Canadian respiratory medicine bodies
  • “Buying guides” that pretend to be clinical advice

Our review and update process

Every new article on CPAPSupply.ca goes through the following process before publication:

Drafting. The initial draft is produced by a team member or contributor, grounded in the sources listed above.

Medical review. Crystal reviews the draft for clinical accuracy. She flags claims that need stronger sourcing, corrects anything that misrepresents how CPAP therapy works, and ensures advice aligns with current Canadian respiratory care practice.

Editorial review. The content is reviewed for clarity, accuracy of product information, and alignment with our style standards.

Publication. Once approved, the article is published with the author’s byline, the reviewer’s credentials, and the date of the most recent medical review.

Published articles are reviewed at least once every twelve months to ensure the information remains current. Articles covering topics that change frequently, such as insurance coverage, device recalls, or CPAP supply availability, are reviewed more often.

Corrections

If you find an error in our content, please email us at info@cpapsupply.ca. We take corrections seriously. When we update an article in a way that changes its meaning, we update the “Medically reviewed on” date at the bottom of the post. For substantive factual corrections, we add a brief note describing what was changed.

Commercial disclosures

CPAPSupply.ca earns revenue from the sale of CPAP machines, masks, accessories, and ongoing CPAP supplies. As a CPAP supply store, our content sometimes references products we sell, and our business model depends on Canadians choosing us among the available Canadian CPAP suppliers. We try to keep educational content and product recommendations clearly separated, but readers should understand that we are a retailer, and our content exists in part to help customers find the right products for their needs.

We do not accept payment from manufacturers in exchange for favourable coverage. We do stock products from major manufacturers including ResMed, Philips Respironics, Fisher & Paykel, and others. This is a function of being a CPAP supply store, not an endorsement arrangement.

When we recommend a specific machine, mask, or accessory, the recommendation reflects our honest assessment based on the product’s features, our experience fitting it to customers, and clinical suitability for the use case being discussed.

What this page is not

This page is a statement of how we operate, not a guarantee of medical accuracy. Despite our best efforts, published content can become outdated, and occasional errors are inevitable. If a piece of information on our site conflicts with advice from your own physician or respiratory therapist, follow the advice of your own healthcare provider.
